Even though Fuerteventura can get very windy; you can always discover a sheltered beach somewhere along the east coast. The western beaches such as those at El Cotillo are popular with surfers, though there are some protected coves and lagoons there too. Discovering new beaches in Fuerteventura is an endless and overwhelming experience that is definitely worth your while.
Fuerteventura Nightlife
If you are looking for lively nights out you try to find accomodation in Corallejo for definite. All of the resorts of course do have their fair share of bars and clubs; however Corallejo is the busiest throughout the year.
Theme Parks in Fuerteventura
There are two principal Theme Park attractions in Fuerteventura The Baku Water Park in Corralejo and the Oasis Park Zoo in La Lajita (near Costa Calma).

Fuerteventura Diving
Scuba Diving is very popular in Fuerteventura because of the mild water temperatures between 18°C and 23°C and excellent visibility of up to 50 meters. The multitude of PADI Diving Centres around the island offer courses at every level as well as Guides and equipment hire. Species such as Barracuda, Moray Eels, Octopus, Grouper, Angelshark and Parrot Fish are common and can be encountered at most popular Dive sites.
Fuerteventura Windsurfing
Many places around the world claim to be world-famous or world-class Windsurfing Destinations, however Fuerteventura is truly one of the World's elite windsurf locations with World Championship events being held here annually at Sotavento in the south of the island. Windsurfing is the most popular Sport on the island and there is a large community of resident Windsurfers and Surfers.
Generally, the constant Trade Winds of the Summer months provide the best Wind Conditions for Slalom and Speed while the Winter months provide the best waves. Fuerteventura offers conditions ranging from the notorious, expert-only, Shooting Gallery near Corralejo to gentle areas such as Costa Calma that are perfect for the beginner. Tuition, at every level from Beginner to Advanced, as well as equipment for hire is available at a selection of Windsurf Schools located at Flag Beach (just south of Corralejo), Sotavento (between Costa Calma and Morro Jable) and at the Main Resorts.
Fuerteventura Shopping
Although Fuerteventura is probably not a very busy shopping destination, there are still plenty of bargains to be found especially in Corralejo and Puerto Del Rosario which are the best places to shop. Just remember to carry your passport if you want to use your Credit Card! |
